Dear Natalie,
First of all. You are not missing anything inside of yourself! Don't you remember when we were Sophomores and went skiing in Vermont? You were the one who went out of the lodge at night and stood in the snow looking up at all of the stars and put your arms up to the heavens. And you made all is girls come out and get in a circle and sing that old camp song, 'Give God the glory, glory, children of the Lord.' We thought you were a bit crazy but we joined in. You kept on saying how close you felt to some sort of universal energy. No one knew exactly what that meant, except you, but that was ok because we all had fun. Do you remember?
I can't wait to get to Jerusalem. I found some of my old pictures that I took on my first trip a million years ago, after my senior year in high school. I've been staring at them and trying to remembering the feelings and emotions I had then. It was so long ago. But I do remember being 'in love' with the city. So here is one of my favorites. We came into the city for the first time at dusk and I took the picture with Lennie's arm around me. Lucky the picture wasn't all blurred. Do you remember Lennie? We were in love for the whole two weeks of the trip. He was tall and lanky and lived in San Diego. Of course, I never saw him again. Now, what was his last name? Was it Liebowitz or Leibovitz? Oh, why would you remember? Doesn't matter and I'm not doing a search for him. Do you think the city still looks the same?
Yes, Gary is not happy about me leaving. But we only just started to date. I can't plan my life around him. I did that with my husband and you see what it got me. Miserable years of being put down. I'm not doing that for anyone ever again.
I love the picture you sent me of the Wall. Take more pictures.
Love,
Maggie
